The USAF Honor Guard Drill Team is a traveling component of the USAF Honor Guard and inspires Air Force awareness among military and civilian audiences through its complex drill presentations. In all they do, the Drill Team personifies the integrity, discipline, teamwork, and professionalism of every Airman and every Air Force mission. Through the Air Force Honor Guard's 60-year history, the Drill Team has performed in every state of the union and abroad.
Drill Team members compete for selection from among current USAF Honor Guard personnel. It is the next step for many from the ceremonial flights who have mastered the precise, professional honors daily rendered in their duties at Arlington National Cemetery and in ceremonially welcoming visiting Heads of State to our nation’s capitol. Competition for open Drill Team positions is open to any member of the USAF Honor Guard.
A standard performance features a professionally choreographed sixteen-person sequence of heart-stopping weapon maneuvers, precise tosses, complex exchanges, and a walk through the gauntlet of spinning eleven-pound weapons with fixed bayonets. In smaller venues, the Drill Team also provides an exciting performance centered on a stationary commander, flanked by four team members who simultaneously hurl their weapons over and around the commander -- performing an unmatched sequence of rifle control and accuracy.
The Team visits various Air Force bases, community events, schools, and sporting events in their mission to support outreach, raise morale, and assist recruiting. Each summer, the Team performs for thousands of visitors in their Summer Drill Series at various monuments throughout the Washington D.C. area.
It is our pleasure to be able to share the remarkable talents of the United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team with you.
